I cannot remember life without standard poodles. Our first poodle, Josato Apple Amber (Mandy) from Josie McDermott.
As a baby, Mandy would apparently stand over me as I crawled around the room. She did not measure up for showing but was our devoted family pet.
Josato Marvellous Mike (sire Josato Georgie Best BIS at SPC 1973) who I named Shinner did very well in the ring. My mother, Yvonne Vaughan affix Mayella had only a few litters of pups under her breeder's name when she died in 1980 aged 43.
I was 13 years old at the time. Obviously, life with poodles as I knew it ceased. Although happily married with children, there was a void in my life. It was not owning a poodle.
Life has taken on new meaning as I now have my beautiful poodles who have given me such happiness and I have made such wonderful friends in the show world.
